Maple Lyre
This is my second lyre. Carved from maple and tuned to a pentatonic scale it yields a gentle tone that resonates well with its flowing forms. It was a pleasure to make this and its sister lyre, which will be a Christmas gift to my girls, in a series of evenings this autumn – so much less demanding than a guitar. This lyre was donated to the Rudolf Steiner Centre Toronto Advent Craft sale to benefit early childhood education. Pentatonic music is well suited to the mood of early childhood and helps children to remainĂ‚Â lithe and dreamy.
The elemental kingdom and the nature spirits revel in the joy that art brings to healing the earth. Thanks Warren for your warm example.
I miss seeing you in flesh, but this is the next best thing.

Yes, this little bit of carving has brought renewed life and vigor to what was a desolate tree stump. I do not feel by nature a healer, but it is nice to know that the combined effects of acting upon whimsy and a bit of sweat can bring about a little bit of healing for the land and for us two leggeds. Art continues to serve our development.
Where are your passions and energies carrying you these days?
